Procomp Electronics | Motorsport – Walker Locked & Loaded for PSCA Pro Street Championship Run 10/06/2010
Procomp Electronics | Motorsport – Walker Locked & Loaded for PSCA Pro Street Championship Run LAS VEGAS, NV - After another stellar season that has already seen them lock up their second consecutive West Coast Hot Rod Association championship, Pro Street standout Randy Walker and the Walker Racing Group are locked and loaded for a run at the Pacific Street Car Association championship. Heading into the final races of 2010, Walker and his team have been thrashing to improve on their already-potent 1974 El Camino, making multiple chassis and tune-up changes as well as pulling even more weight off the big El-Co, and even adding a new-look body wrap. “The competition is fierce out there, and it only gets stronger with every passing day,” said Walker, owner of Walker Autoworks in Palm Desert, CA. “We’ve used the downtime during the summer to make improvements to the car in an effort to stay at the top of the pack. We feel really good heading into these last few races and think we can hang with the turbos and blowers.” “We’re at the stage of the game that it’s time to get our stuff together and get a win,” Duane said. “We missed the first couple races while we were completing our new engine program, and we’re in a bit of a hole. We’re in 5th place in the points, but if we start going rounds and score a win or two we’ll be right there in the hunt.” This weekend’s PSCA Accufab West Coast Shootout at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the final race at the famed Las Vegas track before the event everyone in heads-up doorslammer racing has their eyes on: the PSCA Street Car Super Nationals VI. “This is our last chance to get some data for this track with our new setup before the big race,” Randy said. “We’re completely focused on performing up to our potential this weekend, but we’re also looking ahead to the Super Nationals. It’s such a huge race, and it’s something I want to win before my career is over.” With a fresh new wrap on the El Camino showcasing sponsors Procomp Motorsports and RC Construction Services, the team plans on not only running well, but looking good in the process. “We’ve gone back to our ‘bad in black’ look this time,” Walker continued. “Our sponsors love it, and we’re actually going to be featured in Procomp’s booth at SEMA as well as their upcoming grand opening show in October. We couldn’t be more excited about everything that’s going on to wrap up 2010.” Along with that excitement comes the pressure to perform, beginning this weekend. There is no room for error with so few races left. “We’re looking to get the car in the low 6.20s or high 6.10s consistently this weekend,” said Duane Walker. “It’s still going to be hot out there, and this Vegas air is unforgiving, but we’ve got to run that well if we want the championship.” If their performance over the past three seasons is any indication, Walker and crew are up for the challenge.
