The Fuchs Nationals September 09
This was our first meeting with the new Procomp Electronics | Motorsport Top Doorslammer. With a big effort from everyone on the team and a great effort from Sam Belcastro on the new body we went with the hope taking a big step forward from the old car.
Friday night qualify didn't happen, due to whether problems, so we looked forward to Saturday.
Saturday qualifying started with everyone getting a feel for the track. After a big burnout Deno faced Ben Bray.
Our first shot in anger for the new Camaro was easy 6.19 at 239mph. A nice run down the track and problem free.
In session 2 we moved to the right lane after another good burnout. Deno produced a 6.02 at 237mph. That put us at No 7 of 17 cars.
We then serviced the Procomp Electronics | Motorsport Top Doorslammer for tomorrows racing.
Sunday, and we have Maurice Fabietti first round. He took the left lane. After good burnouts, together, Deno & Maurice lit the stage lights and were away. Deno was out first and Maurice shook bad and Deno was on a great pass until a fuel nozzle came loose and we hurt a piston, but still won.
No problem for the team, however, after a mad rush to replace a piston and rod we were ready to go up against Zap.
This time we were in the left lane. Lights on and Deno's away. He put a great light on Zap and 1.00 60ft time, but at the top of 2nd gear he got out of the groove and had to back off.
Shame really, but all in all, for a first race meeting the Procomp Electronics | Motorsport Team were all very happy.
Stay in tune......
